A LIFETIME OF CARE & COMMUNITY

Camphill has communities designed for people at all stages of life - from early childhood to elders. Our communities offer a uniquely beautiful form of continuity, with friendships that really do last a lifetime.

ADMISSIONS

A life choice not a placement

Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities come to live and work in our communities and share their abilities and gifts. Living in a Camphill community is an opportunity for anyone to live, work, grow and find happiness and meaning in their lives.

If you know an individual with intellectual and developmental disabilities who has an interest in living in community, engaging in a rich cultural life and taking part in meaningful work, we welcome you to contact the community of your choice to learn more about their admissions process.

Because coming to live and work in a Camphill community is a choice, not a placement, the process takes place over an extended period. This is to make sure that the people involved are making an informed and meaningful choice. For example, many communities have trial periods where everyone can find out whether community life is right for them. In shared living, everyone has rights and responsibilities.

“As a community that is intentional in living out the reality of what is possible, Camphill has completely turned Jaime’s life around for the better. At Beaver Run, Jaime is a happy, fulfilled, and able individual. Loved for who he is, encouraged to become his best self, leading the way into a deeper and more meaningful existence. If this is not the utmost wish of a mother for her son, I do not know what is.”

“I wanted to see what I could do with my hands. After three years I met my goals and expanded them. Now I’m a very good weaver and a very good gardener. I can milk, but it’s not so easy. I like the coursework and music. I like being with the people and miss them when I go home.”
~ Tommy, Triform
“I really am too busy to give a quote for the web site. I am with Theo now and in a few minutes I will go to a birthday lunch, then I have some therapies this afternoon. Tonight I can’t talk either. I am going to a festival meeting or volunteering at the Salvation Army (I haven’t made up my mind which one I’ll do). Well, tomorrow morning my case manager comes to take me out and then I have classes. Wednesday I am just too busy!”
~ Lindsey, Triform
